Wednesday Oct. 7th Training debrief

Weigh-In: 202 lbs (Aiming for 195 for the fight)

Injuries: Nothing too severe. Lower left oblique is tweaked. Liver is sore. In good general health

Roadwork:
Today: 6am-7am... 4.1 Miles...8:15 pace.
Notes: Its been cold this week (30-40 degrees in the morning). I've had to be pretty careful about having my muscles warm enough to not pull something on the road. Its expected to snow soon and I still refuse to run on treadmills because I don't get as much out it

Sparring: Most recent sparring was last night. I did 7 total 3 minute rounds. My sparring partner (Who also fights on the 31st) has really taken it up a notch. He soundly beat me last night with some really aggressive bursts and his counter-punches were outstanding. He's been studying all our previous sparring sessions and came in more prepared than me. I'll have to take it up a notch for tomorrow's session. *I'll be posting videos of the sparring sessions soon too*

Footwork/Balance: Aside from sprints I run at least 3 times a week, most of my footwork is practiced in the ring daily. Still jump-rope 3 straight rounds varying speed and style (boxerhop...cross...etc..). Other footwork I've been working on during shadowboxing has been exploding on the 1-2 as I step in, as well as balance on both the right and left uppercut.

Punches/Combos: Going back to the basics, I've been trying to maximize the power coming out of my left and right hook by keeping my upper body looser (the looser you are, the more power you tend to get out of punches). I've been working on the slip-body hook-overhand left, as well as stepping in on the Jab-Right Hook-Straight Left and then bobbing out of it.

Core: 4 Times a week I'm doing 500 situps and 40 pull-ups. Every day I'm doing 100 pushups. Pushups and pullups really work the total core. I'm staying off all weights for the time being as I being to cut down to my fight weight. With my sparring partners I've been doing the medicine ball throws (into eachothers stomachs) and some other team core exercises. I'll elaborate more on specifics of these when i do a specific piece on Core workouts.

That's the debrief for today... I'll keep posting these updates regularly and doing individual posts on specific workouts and training tips for diet and exercise. The next training thing I will post is cardio/roadwork.
